“It is very jarring to watch Johnny in action. He goes out of his way to drive anyone he doesn’t like completely up the wall. However, it is completely refreshing to see someone who is absolutely, positively not enthralled by the media or the music industry. He makes Howard Stern look like an insider, because Stern, for all his bluster, has book deals, movie deals, television deals, and for the most part sucks up to any celebrity who comes on his show. Johnny’s not out to plug anything, make any deals or make any friends. He also makes some interesting points: in the segment where he blows up the rock memorabilia, he states that “What’s important is what these people accomplished, not what they were wearing while they were doing it.” ~a fan

my hero

+What five bands would you like to see at Ozzfest 2002?+

With the exception of Ozzy and Black Sabbath, Marilyn Manson and maybe … ummm Slipknot, last year’s Ozzfest was pretty much a yawner. The other bands like Papa Roach, Disturbed, and Linken Park were unable to motivate the crowd and their hardcore tactics came across as whiney.

The Ozzfest Administrator {whoever that could be} is asking: “If you have thoughts on how the festival could be improved or if you want to submit your five bands who should appear on Ozzfest 2002 send them to me at OZZMINISTRATOR@aol.com. Please keep it brief and be patient if you desire a reply–it takes time to answer everybody individually.

Well I’ll play that game…

Punkarella’s 5 Choices for Ozzfest 2002 for Main Stage and Second Stage…
{credit to BMF for telling me all this}

Main Stage

1. Ozzy without Black Sabbath – Only cause I like a lot of Ozzy’s solo songs and he doesn’t play those when Sabbath is there. Remember when he played “Mama, I’m Coming Home” for his wife, Sharon, at the Atlanta 2000 Ozzfest on the night of their anniversary? Well I do and it was damn sweet.

2. Nashville Pussy – There is NO other group out there that puts on a better Live show. Period. oh… Ruyter Suys. Period.

3. Marilyn Manson – He’s controversial. He’s spontaneous. His shows are awesome. (he was great last year…bring him back)

4. Impotent Sea Snakes – Black tape X’s on nipples, bondage, and loud loud music.

5. Butthole Surfers – Shotguns, flaming drums, and crazed frontman – Gibby Haynes. Pyschadelic Rockmasters. Just one song: “Moving to Flordia”.

And instead of that guy who drives the nails thru his nose…
hire John Lydon to be the emcee’.

Second Stage

1. Iggy Pop – He wouldn’t want to play on the main stage. Its not his style. He likes to get dirty and sweaty with the crowd.

2. Icarus Line – New…exciting…and raw. Think Sex Pistols.

3. Slaves on Dope – Incredible frontman. And cause no other band could do a Poison cover song and make it sound good. Plus their version of “War Pigs” is my favorite.

4. Methods of Mayhem – They would come across a lot better on second stage than main stage. I’ve seen them play in a small venue and at Ozzfest. The small venue performance was amazing but they sucked last year at Ozzfest. Tommy Lee deserves to be there regardless … but let it be second stage so he can work the crowd.

5. My Ruin – The female lead singer has a voice that would kick 99% of the men she went up against.

+punkarella fantasizes about playing Ozzfest +

Viva La Punkarella Vulva
(sing in a screaming baby voice)

Inside bind to pave
Punkarella of Heaven chill the vulva
The misery, gain all
Laying, gripping, pinpointing, adoring…

(chorus:)
Beast of street consider the vulva
Feel while the conqueror
Heap of punkarella coming
Between build to crack
My punkarella is faithful.

Chaos of vulva envying bloody
And the forest of sun
I’ve lost vulva of desiring the rain of vigour
Gore of little crow…

(chorus:)
Beast of street consider the vulva
Feel while the conqueror
Heap of punkarella coming
Between build to crack
My punkarella is faithful.

Blood of Gehenna open the vulva
Poison of hide shall the vulva
In that other punkarella where the only vision is vulva
Hand of the handicapped…

(chorus:)
Beast of street consider the vulva
Feel while the conqueror
Heap of punkarella coming
Between build to crack
My punkarella is faithful.

Force of punkarella la the punkarella
Vulva of kingdom seeing lost
In that other damnation where only emperor is vulva
Seize into a next vulva…

(chorus:)
Beast of street consider the vulva
Feel while the conqueror
Heap of punkarella coming
Between build to crack
My punkarella is faithful.

And now you too can be a headbanger with the help of MetalMaker.

+Live music in Atlanta+

Saw Lennon, Supafuzz, and Speedealer at the Cotton Club. The crowd was small and the music was pretty good. {BMF reviews} But I’d have to say the highlight was seeing Nashville Pussy’s name on the guest list and then actually seeing Ruyter Suys and Blaine Cartwright just blending in with the crowd.

We are heading to Colorado in a couple weeks to document our experiences while following Nashville Pussy around for five of their tour dates with the Reverend Horton Heat. The fact they are playing in places like Aspen, Vail, and Steamboat Springs didn’t influence us at all of course. So naturally seeing them at the Cotton Club doing the same thing we were doing was a bonus. Just your everyday nice husband and wife that both happen to play guitar in one of the most kickass bands you will ever see.

Blonde overheard in the parking lot : “Does anyone know where the groupie area is?”

Only cause I started feeling sorry for Britney Spears do I now turn my attention to …Creed. :)~

Punk redneck. I like it. A lot.
+She just likes to get her fuck on..+

Hey Mister by Custom. Who is this guy? A BMF or not? hmmmm…he likes cars and lofts…good…good…

Custom is a difficult person to summarize in “25 words or less.” Hes an unusual dichotomy at first glance, hes a low-key, twenty-something, 6-foot-8 skater replete with the pants hanging at half mast. Yet on closer inspection, especially when delving into the lyrics of his record “Fast,” one finds a complex, crazy, multitalented artist.

Custom finds much of his inspiration in the streets, clubs, people and general chaos of New York city. He lives in an industrial loft in lower Manhattan sandwiched between fish markets and sweat-shops. The loft, dubbed 120, is a Factory-like haven for a tight-knit collective of friends including artists of all kinds, musicians, writers, photographers, general wastoids and models. 120 is a hub of activity around the clock, especially in the studio which Custom built himself.

If Custom has to leave the house he does so on one of his three favored means of transport: a long board, a KTM or a Cop Car. The cop car, known as Liberty, or Libby for short, is a retired NYPD Caprice – still with search light, antennaes and aircooled wheels. In that it is a cop car, it gets full cop treatment: you can run lights, do burnouts, drifts, as if in pursuit, and park anywhere without getting ticketed. The KTM is a 640cc Austrian motorcross bike on which Custom pretends that New York City is just one big motorcross track. This often leads to real pursuits with real cop cars, although he has yet to be caught.

Customs very wry and quirky sense of humor, along with his uncanny ability to weave words together in unexpected ways leads one on an adventure down the rabbit hole when listening to his debut album “Fast.” His album which was written, produced and primarily performed by Custom, will be released in early 2002.
