8:30 Travel day! Depart ATL and arrive in Boston about 2PM. No train this time! Last year the trip was closer to Halloween so traffic into Salem was more of a concern. But I did not like the train and this time we can rideshare from Boston to Salem. This 40 minute ride should cost $60 to $80 for five people with luggage.
4:00 Arrive @ Morning Glory in Salem. Check in and explore the B&B and then head out to the Pickering Wharf area and get a coffee and a snack @ Jaho. Head directly to The Ossuary (open Sun/Mon only until 11-6PM). In general the wharf closes up at 6PM but a walkabout will help if we want to return later. The Bung Hole Liquor is nearby(😜). Get dinner @ LongBoards (open until 1 am). They got lobsta rolls, scorpion shots and quesadillas for the kid.

Monday 9/26
8:30 Breakfast @ Morning Glory
9:30 Walk toward Peabody Essex Museum located on Essex St and a 10 minute walk from Morning Glory. This will be our only day to visit the Museum as it will be closed the rest of our visit. Admission includes a new self guided Salem Witch Walk tour that takes about 90 minutes and starts in the museum. Bring earbuds! Open 10-5 today. Got the tickets!
Gardens – there is a garden at the Museum and there is a garden at Ropes Mansion (Hocus Pocus!) also on Essex and about a 10 minute walk from the museum that is part of the self guided tour. We won’t be able to tour inside the house as they only do these on Saturdays.
This is also a chance to explore Salem’s McIntire Historic District, including Chestnut Street. Here is a good walking tour.

On your way down be sure to pass through the Charter Street Cemetery, which has an ominously fantastic ode to the witch trials, with famous last words etched in large stone, including: “I DO PLEAD NOT GUILTY.” Magistrate John Hathorne, the sick and twisted judge who persecuted all those innocent people and sent them to death, is buried there. When you go try to imagine a world where people sit around and watch injustice being brought upon innocent people, especially women, when a selfish, dictatorial, money-grubbing, lying man-in-power will stop at nothing to satiate his need for greed.
11-3 Brunch @ Lobster Shanty 25 Front St. – this is about a 5 minute walk from the Essex Museum and there will be lots to do in this area.
2-6 After lunch head to the Bewitched sculpture (about a 4 minute walk) to shop and hang out.
7:00 Dinner @ Bambolina (wood fired pizza) @ 288 DERBY ST. This is located on our walk back to Morning Glory. They close at 8:30PM.

5:30 Witch Taxi back to Hawthorne Hotel (where the housewives stayed). Try to get dinner @ Olde Main Street Pub (closes 1AM) or The Tavern (at Hawthorne) and visit Crowhaven Corner and Wynotts Wands(closes @ 8) before the tour.
